Reading police looking for man who tried to lure girl into car

Police in Reading are trying to identify a man who allegedly attempted to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car while she walked her dog, Chief David Clark said. At approximately 2:20 p.m. Monday, the Reading police said they received a report that a girl was walking her dog near the corner of Lilah Lane and Thomas Drive when she was approached by a man she did not know who was driving a dark gray sedan and told her to get into his car.The girl refused and then ran down the street to a neighbor’s house to ask for help, police said. Police said the man is described as white, approximately 60 years old, heavyset with black and white hair. The car had a dent and scratches near the rear driver’s side, police said.The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Reading police at 781-944-1212.
