JACKSON COUNTY, Ore– Jackson County Public Health Officials announced 33 new cases of the coronavirus today, October 24, 2020. This is the second day in a row in which the health officials have announced 33 new cases, and is the fourth day in a row in which the county has seen 30 or more new cases of the virus.

The county now sits at 1,650 total cases, with more than 200 cases still active in the county.

This week, Jackson County saw the single day coronavirus record broken, when health officials reported 36 new cases of the virus on Wednesday, October 21. 

With the 33 new cases today, Jackson County crushed the previous record weekly record of 135 new cases in a single week, with 161 new cases of the virus so far this week. In the last five weeks, health officials have reported more than 600 new cases of the virus, and are averaging 122 new cases every week. 

Jackson County Health Officials want to remind everyone that with the holidays approaching, and COVID-19 still spreading in our community, that clusters and outbreaks of COVID-19 can occur from indoor gatherings. They recommend that people rethink how they get together with friends and family this season.
