Used social media to find son’s savior

A mother searched for a stranger who she said saved her son’s life after he fell into a Dover pond. She took to the internet, and thanks to the power of social media the two families connected. >> Download the free WMUR appThe mother, Mandy Vacca, posted on Facebook asking her friends to help her find the man who rescued her 4-year-old son Owen when he fell into a pond while visiting Tendercrop Farm in Dover. Her post received hundreds of shares, comments and reactions.“A girlfriend that I used to work with said, ‘Hey guess what?’ She sent me a screenshot,” Vacca said. “She shared it on her page and a friend of hers who is neighbors with Dave and Kristina said, ‘That’s my neighbor.’”That neighbor, Dave Peterson, jumped into action to pull Vacca’s son from the pond.“It was bad,” Peterson said. “I remember seeing his mouth come up over the water and his arms flailing. If there was any hesitation at all, it was gone in an instant. I was in.”Vacca’s son is doing fine and she said she will be forever grateful for Peterson and his family.
